And yes it has all the benefits of a normal “marriage”.

Do not use Union a marriage is a form of Union. For sake of this question “Marriage” would apply to stright civil unions and “(New word)” to gay civil unions
Nothing is wrong with marriage, it is just a suggestion to to piss off bigots that want to prevent gay marriage.

Almost everyone I know agrees that same sex couples should be given all the same governmental benefits as other couples, but why do Gays and Lesbians need to have the term “Marriage”, Marriage is a “Religious” term and no amount of legislation will change that. Why wasn’t the terms civil unions or civil bonds OK with Gays and Lesbians? Why the term “marriage”?? Is this just their way of humiliating religion?

Question by Hale: How about those politicians worried about the “sanctity of marriage”…?
Just so I understand their positions….
They preach from their soapbox that allowing same-sex couples to marry will destroy the “sanctity of marriage”, but they have no qualms about committing adultery on their spouses?
Then they cry on camera cue and charge taxpayers the adultery expenses.

Call me crazy but when I pledged our wedding vows 42 years ago, I understood that my word to god was something to faithfully honor.

What are your thoughts?
