I think ‘dating’ is more about going out with people and getting to know them, and seeing if you like them. If you do, you carry on seeing this person and are ‘in a relationship’ with them.

What’s the difference between a “marriage” and a “civil partnership”?

Tuesday, January 11th, 2011

Question by tangerine: What’s the difference between a “marriage” and a “civil partnership”?
I know that some would argue that “marriage” denotes religious connotations, but that isn’t always true. After all, there are plenty of people who are married by justices of the peace and not in a church or other religious institution. Is there really any difference between a “marriage” and a “civil partnership”, since in both cases, relationships are given an official status by the government?

Yeah, it’s just a name. It helps appease the religious right and gives homosexuals what they want.
