It means a thing is what it is. It will do what its supposed to do. It seems like a defeated statement most of the time or as a way to excuse faults. People lie cheat and steal, well people are people (or like the saying boys will be boys, kinda goes by the same rules)

I’ve started seeing this guy (we’ve gone out four or five times now) and while we were on the trolley with friends and family, we were asked if we were dating and he immediately said “Nooo” which kind of surprised me. I didn’t say anything and just let him answer the question seeing that he was so assertive and quick to respond.

Maybe he defines dating as boyfriend/girlfriend relationship? I was under the impression that what we were doing was “dating”

Dating does mean different things to different people. meanings include
*hanging out (between 2 people who like each other)
*hanging out as gf and bf without sexual relations.
*heavy hanky-panky.
*kissing and sex (which is now common)

He probably thought they mean “are you guys sleeping with each other?”.

Because you have already commited the act in your mind and heart. It’s just as bad as a physical affair. You are being disrespectful to your spouse by getting emoitionally involved with someone else.
